Cell Phone Sexting
How is sexting illegal, I don’t understand?
My dad said he got a call from My Cell Phone company, AT&T, and said that they found a dirty picture and “sexy” messages. The picture wasn’t of me, just to clarify. Me and my ex were sending some dirty texts back and forth about a week ago and apparently I’m banned from Texting until I’m 18. I can’t be a teenager without texting, and I don’t understand the rules about this. Could someone explain this to me?
Oh, and I forgot to ask. How can I get my texting back AND keep my same cell phone company? Because I don’t want to lose my iPhone.
Because AT&T wants to stay as far away from child porn like turkey wants to avoid a thanksgiving dinner.
Doesn’t matter who is in the pic. If you are a minor and receiving or sending lude or pornographic images AT&T doesn’t want to get tangled up in any possible lawsuits or criminal charges.
Your best bet is probably to switch service provides and stay away from questionable texts until you’re all grown up.
Or… you dad could be feed up with the bill and found a clever way to cut you off 
As for AT&T acting illegally – you have to be careful here… Only government agents need to obtain search warrants. Thats what the constitution protects against, actions of our government. First, you would have to prove that AT&T is acting as a government agency when it viewed the messages, which is very difficult considering AT&T is a business trying to limit its liability caused by customers. Second, there is a lower standard of privacy rights when it comes to children, especially when protecting children’s interests. i.e. no search warrant needed to check highschool lockers.
